"Big 3" Advocate for Veterans
The Commanders from AZ American Legion, AZ VFW, AZ DAV, and the UAV Chair, along with the AZ DAV Adjutant and three state-level organization legislative representatives visited the offices of Senators and Representatives to advocate for changes to proposed SB and HB dropping in Committee next week. Department Adjutant Honored in Imprints of Honor
On April 26th, Department Adjutant & CEO Carl Forkner was honored as a part of the 2026 Imprints of Honor, Volume I in a ceremony and book signing in Scottsdale, AZ. The program honors Veterans by interviewing them by high school students interviewing them and writing a chapter of the annual commemorative book to tell their story. To learn more, click HERE!
Department Senior Vice Commander awarded high honors at AZ Convention
At the joint opening ceremony of the Department of Arizona's Convention on June 11th, Senior Vice Commander Rodney Hage was the recipient of two high honors.

Department Commander meets Medal of Honor recipient Ken David
Department Commander Bruce Nogar had the honor of meeting Medal of Honor recipient and 2025 DAV Disabled Veteran of the Year Kenneth David, Department Adjutant for Ohio.

Department Adjutant elected to National Executive Committee
Department Adjutant Dr. Carl Forkner was elected at DAV National Convention in Orlando, FL, to a two-year term on the National Executive Committee (NEC), representing Arizona, Hawai'i, and Nevada. His term will be from 2026 to 2028. The Alternate District 18 NEC Representative is PDC Jerome Washington from Nevada.
Department Adjutant appointed to position in the State Cmdrs and Adjutants Association
Department Adjutant Dr. Carl Forkner was appointed to Chair the Chapter Resource Guide Committee for the DAV State Commanders and Adjutants Association for the 2026-2027 term. He will work alongside Bob Ballard of Wisconsin and Jerome Skippergush of Michigan.
Department PDC & Judge Advocate elected to National Line
Department PDC, Judge Advocate, and National 2nd Junior Vice Commander was elected to the office of National 1st Junior Vice Commander at the 2026 DAV National Convention in Orlanda, FL.

Department Adjutant launches new, expanded research on Veterans & PTSD
Department Adjutant, Dr. Carl Forkner, launched a new, expanded research study on the underlying influences that often result in Veterans being classified as "resistant to treatment." The study, based on his previous year-long research that culminated in his new book, "Beyond the Diagnosis: Why 60% of Veterans stay broken after therapy--and the Moral Injury framework that finally heals them," expands this critical work on exploring new, nonpharmaceutical treatment options that break through the confounding underlayment of moral injury. The expanded study will be accepting Veterans nationwide through December 31, 2027.
Department Adjutant reaches level 14 of 20 for DAV Volunteer Service Hours
Department Adjutant, Dr. Carl Forkner, received his DAV 10,000 Volunteer Hours pin on September 16th. The award was accompanied by a beautiful black and white plaid "DAV Volunteer" blanket==appropriately timed going into the winter months.
