Navajo Nation
This news feed chronicles the progress of the Department's program to bring claims service to Veterans of the Navajo Nation. This is the first Native American location selected for this new program, with the first remote claims station installed and active two days each week at Pinon, AZ. Read more HERE!
Department Leadership News
The Commanders from AZ American Legion, AZ VFW, AZ DAV, and the UAV Chair, along with the AZ DAV Adjutant and three state-level organization legislative representatives visited the offices of Senators and Representatives to advocate for changes to proposed SB and HB dropping in Committee next week. Claims for Rural Veterans in Globe, AZ
Department Adjutant Carl Forkner and Chapter 8 CSO Debbie Roberts traveled to Globe--a town near the very edge of their area about 70 miles away from Chapter 8--to provide information and claims services to local Veterans and their families. This was the precursor to introduction of remote videoconference claims service to the community. Read more HERE!
New Jr. Vice for the Department
On March 31st, DAV East Valley Chapter 8 Commander Lynn Burnett was installed by Department Adjutant Carl Forkner as the Department's new Junior Vice Commander. Lynn will serve out the rest of this year's term that was left vacant by the prior Junior Vice Commander's resignation. See more HERE!
Veteran Servant Leader Awards
On May 27th, two of our Chapter leaders were honored by Congressman Juan Ciscomani in a ceremony in Tucson, AZ. Four years ago, Congressman Ciscomani initiated the Veteran Servant Leader award program, designed to recognize Veterans who continue to serve their communities after they retire or are discharged from the military with an honorable discharge.
